The evolution of literature throughout history has lead to the creation of different genres and has left us with the unforgettable works of literary giants like William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, Charles Dickens, Jules Verne, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Edgar Allan Poe...etc. Depending on the genre and type of literary work, a writer is more specifically labeled as a poet, novelist,... etc. In this ranking we have attempted to collect the biggest names in world literature, regardless of their genre.
