The gastronomy of La Rioja has as an identifying sign the production of wines, being its cuisine less known internationally. The region of La Rioja enjoys the passage of the Ebro River, which gives rise to a fertile land strip of abundant plantations. This kitchen is related to the Basque, the Navarrese and the Aragonese. Among the most emblematic preparations of the region are the chops with the vine shoot (a typical barbecue), the caparrones de Anguiano, the stuffed peppers and the potatoes with chorizo. In the confectionery (denominated in the region golmajería) the almond is very present very abundant fruit in the region especially in the zone of the Rioja Baja.
