Dogs are the most popular pets in the world. Dog and man have lived together for some 31,700 years. It's possible that the domestication of dogs began more as a spontaneous adaption on the part of dogs as they began to coexist with man, and not intentionally done by man as is commonly believed. This is because living with man has been advantageous for dogs: a dog living in a human community, even in ancient times, could eat with less effort than in the wild. There are dozens of dog breeds.
