(5 votes)

Comscore is an American consulting company that periodically prepares this classification based not on web pages but web "properties." For example, Google holds the first spot because of the sum of the traffic of its search engine (in all languages) along with the rest of the applications it has developed (like GMail or Google Maps) or purchased (like YouTube or Panoramio) throughout its history. Comscore is, along with Alexa, one of the most well known institutions that try to gather global Internet traffic data. Its ranking is highly considered by the world's main media outlets.
