The British newspaper The Guardian in 2007 created a list of the top 10 best beaches in the world. The Guardian is one of the most widely circulated newspapers, with a daily circulation of half a million papers. At the top of this ranking is the beach Roda, in the Cies Islands (Galicia, Spain). Gavin McOwan, reporter who created the list, explains that most people instinctively think of the Mediterranean coast when they think of Spanish beaches. However, McOwan appreciates the "wilder, stunning Atlantic coastline of Galicia", where the beaches have "far fewer people on them". The other 9 beaches on the list are from throughout the world.

Did you know you can display the rankings in different ways?
