The per capita income of the USA has always varied considerably amongst the different states of the union. For example, the state of Connecticut has in recent years practically doubled the income of poorer states like Utah, Mississippi or Arkansas. In spite of these differences, however, the average per capita income in the USA is still among the highest in the world, and it's only surpassed by smaller countries that provide a financial paradise, such as Liechtenstein, Qatar, Luxembourg or the Bermudas. This ranking displays the historical evolution of income in the United States.
