The National Statistical Institute (INE) has calculated the Housing Price Index since 2007. Its purpose is to measure the evolution of housing prices of free price homes, both new as well as used homes, throughout time. It is noteworthy to mention that it does not indicate the housing price in itself; rather it records its trend in time. The source of information used for the index is the registered housing database provided by the Governing Council of Notaries. This ranking presents the index as calculated for the new homes.
